I'm trying to find a movie I saw, maybe from the 80's? A 20 something guy living with his dad on a farm/ranch has an affair with a New York (Attorney?), she goes back and he follows her to the city. He helps people in the ghettto while trying to find/win her. He fights with the local hoodlums, the neighborhood comes to his aid when a tree he planted gets ripped out of the ground. Anyone have a clue?
