You haven't given enough information to know what he thinks and might feel. I will not speculate about why he wants to know about your friend or why he thinks you are her 'keeper' knowing her every move. It is enough to know you are confused and concerned and he holds all the answers about his thoughts. That said, you have all the answers about how to end the confusion and concern.

Sit down face-to-face and ask him what is going on or drop him because you don't trust him. If you can't get answers from him then let that be the answer and walk away. You deserve better than to wonder about whether he is being faithful. It will hurt far less to end the confusion and heal than it will to continue allowing the worry and concern to tear you apart. You don't want to allow this to cause you to doubt not only him but your friend.

I don't understand why you simply haven't ask him what his interest in her is and then judge things for yourself.
