Long story short. I fatherd a child with a girl in NY and I'm in Colorado. I've ALWAYs been hit for MORE then the state mandated 17% of gross which made no sense. Appealed the district courts and got denied even with proof of income. Regardless of that fact her HUSBAND adopted the child some time ago. Yet I get random NY state child support orders that keep accumulating. I know I shouldn't be paying anymore and am having difficulty finding a way to get copies of the adoption or release of legal rights decree paperwork to then forward to the child support enforcement so they will stop billing me. It's screwing me every time I try to finance a car... or whatnot. I would LOVE to get this off my credit but I have no idea how I will go about doing it. I assumed that when the adoption was finallized that the support enforcement would have been automatically notified? Please advice and thank you in advance for your help

The first thing you need is a copy of the Adoption order. You need to have a subpoena issued to the mother to produce a copy of the adoption or at least forward one to the NYS agency that is trying to collect support from you.
