I was recently put on Wellbutrin XL 150mg for what we thought was post-pardum depression but turned out to be clinical depression instead. My question is how I would know orcould tell if the dose is high enough for me. I have another appointment with my doctor this coming week and definitelyw ant to go up. Issue is that I know I need more, but I believe I will need something around 300mg to feel any different. I've been on this dose 3 weeks and I don't feel any different at all except for a headache throughout the day. Does anyone know if it's possible to go from 150mg straight to 300mg?

Also with anyone who has taken this medication or knows anythign about it. Have you experienced any weight loss in conjuntion with this med? I've lost a couple of pounds without doing anything different and was just curious to know if it had anythign to do with it. Also the whole thing with increasing sex drive. I obviously know it does that, cause damn am I feeling that. But can anyone explain why exactly??

It's good to be informed, and read the entire website I put in your other post, but also give your doctor a little more credit and trust. You don't leap into high doses of any antidepressant, you go gradually, and assess the effects over weeks, not days. 450 mg is the max dose. You are trying to get pregnant? (May I ask, did you lose the child you mention re post partum depression, and what was the story, and is it wise to try again so soon?) You want more drugs at this time too? Is that really a risk you feel is necessary right now, for the health of both of you? You say you don't feel less depressed, but now have a daily headache and heightened desire (no, not everyone feels that), and I think really need to back off and have a good talk with your doctor.

Joy, post par-tum simply means after giving birth. Ladybug, how long after giving birth were you prescribed Wellbutrin? U.S. drug companies do not want you to get better on your own; more than 65% of patients get better on their own within 6 months of onset. But it's your choice and good that you are doing the research. Wellbutrin was pulled off the market due to seizures. This drug is also know as a ramping drug; your doctor needs to ramp you up and down from this drug to avoid withdrawals and seizures. I would advise you through experience not taking more drugs that could be due to side effects from psych drugs, you could get pulled into a horrible way of living. Question if a new psych diagnosis could be related to the drug you are taking and back off on the drug or quit taking it and see if the diagnosis is actually a side effect. If this truly is PPD then you need to re access if you should have more children, your episodes could get worse and the part of your brain that sustains your emotional wellbeing is telling you not to have more children at this point in your life. Sometimes that's why we get depressed; we are not doing what is good for us. Depress; to press down. To press down on emotions and mental angst causes severe mental reactions. Question why, not how to mask the depression,
