About an hour after my wife goes to bed, the back of her calves begin to itch and becomes a red rash with red bumps (at the hair follicles?) . It makes her loose sleep as she gets up usually twice to apply cortisone cream. She showers before bed and we've tried different body soaps. She's tried showering in the morning. We've tried different laundry soaps for the bedding. All to no avail. It seems odd that it would only occur at night, and has no effect on me (we sleep together}. The Dr. says it's irritated hair follicles, but not why or what to do for it. Any suggestions/medications?

Thank you,
Mike

Has she tried Benadryl?

My husband has the same problem. We've tried everything we can think of except for Camphor Phonique, probably misspelled that, but an older gentleman told him to rub that all over the itching areas and it will stop it. We've changed detergents to the gentle kind with no perfume etc. for sensitive skin. All cotton underwear, Tshirts, briefs and socks in white. I suggested he start using a food diary so we're going to start that tomorrow. He has tried drinking lots of water during the day, doesn't use extra salt. We have left off his diet any food that has a high incidence for allergic reactions. If you have an idea, nothing is too stupid if it works we'll try it.
Thanks in advance!
