Wel I got a cartilage peircing about 3 or 4 months ago and that same day got my belly peiced. The cartlidge peircing absolutely killed! They used a needle which I think made it hurt more but I heard that using a gun can crack the cartlidge. For a while the cartlidge peircing hurt so much that if I were to hug someone and they bumped my ear even slightly, I'd be crying! This continued for about 2 months and then it got less and less painful. Recently it is beginning to hurt again though :S I can't sleep on it and it is definitely not healed! I'm worried, is this normal?

Don't worry.. cartilage piercings can take up to a year to fully heal.. 3 months minimum usually. Mine hurt a lot at first then after a few months it stopped but then it got worse because I was sleeping on it more and knocking it more because I thought it'd be all right, turns out it got infected so make sure you're still cleaning it because it won't be fully healed yet! Just make sure you take extra care so you don't knock it, hope this helped.

Don't be worried this is totally normal. You were smart to have it pierced the way you did. Guns are HORRIBLE. Cauliflower ear is the least of the dangers there. Not to mention horrible infection since they can't clean those monster machines.

The fact that you DO sleep on that side is probably what has it angry. Just leave it alone and rinse it out with saline or sea salt solution a few times a day. The soaks should help in about a week's time. In the meantime, leave it as alone as you can. No touching, no twisting, no anything and try not to sleep on it. It can take up to a year or more for you're cartilage to heal. But three months is barely healed. Constant contact with your hair, pillow or cleaning could easily make it worse. You're almost out of the woods don't give up yet.
