I have a neighbor who purchased an existing home and the vented gas log fireplace remote control is not anywhere to be found.. His wife wants to have a simple wall switch for turning the fireplace on and off. On the wall beside the fireplace there is a plate covering a switch box which says something about the remote system and I think this is where the receiver is located. Please advise as to how I may assist them in converting the operation, on and off operation, to a simple single pole light switch. Maybe a drawing as how to convert to wall switch operation and forgo the remote.
I just installed a new thermo couple today, pilot light, for my neighbor. Neither he or his wife have a clue as how a single pole 110v. Light switch works much less how to wire something that simple. I am hoping that I can open the remote mechanism mounted on the wall beside the fireplace and bridge two wires with a single pole 110v. Switch to convert the fireplaces operation to a simple wall switch; on and off . The pilot light is remaining on now that I replaced the thermocouple.
Please advise.
Thanks,
