I currently owe 40K on several cards. My income has been severely reduced and I can no longer pay even close to minimums. I need to get clear on Judgments since I own two vehicles (not worth that much) and the home in which I lived is paid for & in a trust. I couldn't care less if they recover what's owed after my death (I'm 64 & partially disabled) - it's while I still breath that scares me. Also, I am not that concerned about negative credit ratings or inability to use a card, ever again! Thanks, appreciate considerations of legal professional.

I am not a legal professional, but have been somewhere where you are at a time, but not quite as bad. I still don't care about negative credit ratings, but I do keep everything current and pay cash, never run a balance on my one Mastercard. It is through my union so easy to manage, but still learned my lesson after debt consolidation.

Have you considered filing for bankruptcy. I am suggesting this because it would take care of immediate concerns. I put it out there, but stay tuned, I would really like you to hear from others here.

Best of luck deciding what you will do with this.

thx, bankruptcy not option.

Hi Lake, most people don't want to file bankruptcy because of the stigma attached to the procedure; friends finding out, associates finding out; too proud to do just that. I am not digging but you know here we ask a lot of questions, and you will find out that we like getting to the heart of the matter to help people with a pertinent question. Yours is definitely a 'pertinent question'.

So, I ask, and we don't know you here, you are a name only, why is bankruptcy not an option ?

Hi again Lake, yes, I can understand that, point taken! But you see, I am in Canada, so its handled a little differently here.
