I think it was a Merrie Melodies cartoon. All I remember was that it had HUGE ears, cuter than Herman-mouse and maybe talked baby-talk and not much at all. Seems like mousie was home alone and awake in the dark, but getting very sleepy. Seems like there was a grandfather clock, and the song "Me and My Shadow"

Been trying to find it, but no luck. It gave me a strange lonely feeling when I was little, and I want to see it again with 50 year old eyes:)
