View Full Version : Different last name on Passport and Green card - International travel?

Hi,

I had to get my Indian passport renewed recently because it was expiring in 4 months. So, I requested my last name to be changed to my husband's in the new passport. However, all of my other documents/identity cards/certificates have my birth last name (including Green card, marriage certificate, US driver's license etc.).

I will be traveling to India in 2 months and I do not have enough time to get my last name changed in my Green Card. Will I face problems at Immigration? What name should I use to book my ticket?

Thanks!
-A

No problem... make sure your name on the ticket and passport is the same.

Lawanwadee, I have another question for you.

As you suggested I will carry my marriage certificate. I may have time to get my name legally changed (court order) before leaving for India. This court order is to be given as proof for name change in GC (for which there is no time before my trip).

Do you think I should get the court order and carry it with me for additional support?

Thanks for your advice!

Copy of marriage certificate is enough. Good luck.
