Mr HVAC100,

Sir, I very much like your articles on HVAC. I respect your opinion, advice and instruction.

I would like your recommendation when looking for a qualified installer for a R410a heat pump system? I'd like to do as much of the work as I can then turn it over to the pros for the finishing work (would like your comments on that as well).

Notes:
I'm an electrical engineer with a blue collar (automotive) background. I have no problem with scientific concepts or HVAC theory.

- I'm very familiar with brazing and welding, though never brazed a copper pipe or used nitrogen, but I do know how to make metal flow.
- Don't have any of the specialized tools/guages for evac or fluid replacement.
- I plan to replace and relocate the entire system with condenser located outside and an airhandler located in the attic, using about 40 - 50 feet of line set. I will rerun in the walls, ripping out drywall for better access, also plan on relocating the lineset run and electrical/breaker box at the condenser.
- I'd like to put the A/H on a piece of 3" of foam insulation (noise/vibration control).

Other notes: I'm a by the book guy. I don't take shortcuts, I go the extra mile. I do what's in the book (install manual) and what the experts tell me to do.

Your thoughts? Appreciate it. lmeier1962
