PBNU-LD20N100D Maybe 2 to 3 times a season it refuses to ignite. Gas valve is getting 24 volts from the control & clicks & passes gas at the prescribed time. Pressure switches all with proper voltage, new draft fan, unobstructed airflow piping. Happens most often in fall when temps make big change.

This year readjusting the burner airflow on the burner by the igniter back to same setting as others worked for several weeks without interruption, but now is doing it again. That burner airflow had been choked down maybe 5% a couple years ago which fixed the problem at the time.

Control flashes 1 long upon switching power on, igniter glows, all voltages check out.

Stock igniter was replaced several years ago with locally available multi-fit igniter listed to work with this furnace. May be small difference in igniter configuration, i.e. reach or coil position relating to burner (?) Could this be possible problem?

Local non-Luxaire service tech unable to solve. Dealer left area some time ago.

Groping for ideas, appreciate suggestions / info!

Where can I get parts list for this furnace? Understand many York parts are used.

Thanks very much!

(Answering it myself) Researching (again) for troubleshooting ideas, I came across the new silicon nitride igniters that are not sensitive to i.e. fingerprint oils, frequent burnout, etc. Being we had a non-original igniter in the furnace, I replaced it with a silicon nitride igniter I found locally for $50 and that did not require a separate power supply or anything like that.

The replacement igniter we had been using hadn't burned out over about 10 years, but we realized that was when our lighting failure problems started. It had a perforated sleeve around the element, unlike the open element original ones that we had to replace about ea 2 years.

The new silicon nitride igniter is the best $50 I ever spent on this furnace. Now it lights much more smoothly with no rumbling like had been and lights instantly with no "struggling" like it did before.

The link isn't the same brand I found locally but it is similar. They are universal and should fit most any gas furnace.
