I haven't had a period in 4 months. I went to the Dr. and she prescribed prometrium it worked for 2 months and now I'm back to not having a period. The dr swears it's a hormone thing but is this a common problem. Prior to this I was on the patch for birth control while taking acutane for acne. Does this have anything to do with it? My husband and I really want to have a child in 2011. *** help..

Have you had tests to determine what sort of hormonal problem it might be? That would be the first step if it hasn't been done already. What is done to help can be different depending on what the reason for it is.
What were your cycles like prior to four months ago? Has the lack of periods occurred after coming off the patch and acutane?

My periods were regular before the acutane and patch no discharge the prometrium helped but now it isn't working I started taking a multi vitamin to make sure it wasn't due to my diet I'm desperate. I'm trying not to stress since that would prolong this. I researched some options online and I found dong quai. Any one ever heard of this root?

There are a number of herbal supplements that can be helpful but only if you know the cause because, as with medication, what you would use would depend on what the underlying reason is.
Saying it's a hormone thing would be a fairly obvious observation, but which hormone(s) are out of sync is what you need to find out. I'd ask your doctor about some hormone testing first. Once you know what the cause is, then you can know which course of treatment might work best for you. Things like the dong quai or vitex (angus castus), for example, can be helpful, and some women do prefer to go that route instead of medication with very good results, but again the cause should be determined.
The multivitamin is a good idea anyway when trying to conceive. Look to see that it has at least 400 mcg of folic acid... helpful in preventing certain birth defects in early pregnancy.
