Can I connect a brass pipe to a steel pipe on a gas line?

Hi Macoyo:
Here's the code in my area...
Threaded brass or copper pipe shall not be used with gasses corrosive to such material.
Corrosive is defined as a gas with an average hydrogen sulfide content of 0.03 grains per 100 SCF. Here, copper/brass can usually be used with propane gas, but not usually natural gas.
All that being said, I think this is a question that needs to be answered by a local plumbing/gas inspector... ;)
Let me know what they tell you, OK? I am always curious to hear what each town/city/state has to say in these things!
Thanks...
Mark
