I have full sole legal custody of my son. His father was arrested for domestic violence twice towards me when my son was three, and we had a restraining order at the time. The restraining order has since expired, we have moved to a different state, changed our social security numbers, and he is in no way a part of my sons life. My husband would like to adopt my son, but we are not sure how to do this without the natural father having to give up his rights. We are afraid to petition him to do so, because then he would know where we are, and we would be in grave danger. How can my husband adopt my son?

Your husband can't adopt your son without bio father giving up his rights. There is no way around it if that is what you want done. Sometimes you have to take the path of least resistance and if you don't want him to know where you are, maybe its best to stay gone.
