My home is about 16 years old and I've lived in it only 22 months now. My thermostat works fine except when I sit in my favorite chair to watch TV, the vent for the heater/air conditioning is right on top of me on the vaulted ceiling in my living room. I don't use my heater in the winter because I get stuffed up, I just bundle up but I feel cold air blowing down on me from the vent. My thermostat says it is maybe 60 in the house and the other setting that goes up and down that you set yourself is at 60. I've tried changing it to stop the air from blowing but it still does. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get the cold air from coming down on me?

You have a 38 degree differential-98 body heat and 60degree air-blowing on you when the heater is not calling for heat. It will always feel like cold air is blowing out. Get a ladder and close the supply register. If it doesn't seal tight enough for you, remove the register and blank it off with a piece of cardboard.

Thanks, I'll get a new cover and put cardboard in it. I called the company, he told me to remove the batteries to see if the air stops blowing, but it didn't He said my thermostats is too old and I should get another one or get my heater checked.

Are you sure the fan switch isn't in the ON position? The fan running all the time it isn't normal. If it is ON, move it to AUTO and it should only cycle when it calls for heat or AC. If it doesn't turn off at all, you may be ready for a new t'stat.
