I have a front engine riding mower that I am planning on turning into a go-kart tractor. I have an 18HP horizontal engine that I am going to run to a solid rear axle, so it doesn't have a transmission just a centrifigal clutch. Its too long of a stretch to run a chain from the front to the rear axle so I am planning on welding on some supports to the back of the frame for the engine. My question is with the engine being behind the rear axle and being direct drive it will be very back heavy and a lot of rear torque. Should I add weights to the front, put wheelie bars on it, or am I just being retarded trying it?
