LARGE MOLAR ROOT CANAL THROUGH CROWN - Had root canal through an existing crown - crown was installed maybe over 5 yrs ago because tooth was cracked while eating an olive with a pit. The root canal was performed on large molar over 2 weeks ago. At first Dentist only detected 3 canals - still had pain - back to the Dentist and he found another canal (the 4th canal) - removed that nerve in that canal - has been over a week now and still have pain with the tooth especially if food should happen to get in that area which I try to avoid. Been trying to avoid chewing anything on that side of my mouth but when something does get in the area I immediately have pain. Dentist is telling me it is post op pain and if that is so how long could that last? I have no sores on my gums and I presume no infection. I can also suck on an ice cube in that area and there is no pain - it pains sporadically but it also has a dull pain most of the time? It is driving me crazy and it is also very uncomfortable. Any answers would be appreciated. Any thing would be apprciated.

Do you feel the discomfort only when food gets stuck in the area or when chewing food in the area? You may want to go back and have the dentist check your bite. A slight adjustment may be all that is needed.
