I am going to tee off the drain from the laundry room and run a pipe for my washer to drain. Do I need a trap in the washer drain line?

Sorry Babes!

That idea just ain't agonna fly. If you connect the washer hose to anything lower then the flood rim of the washer the water in the tub will simply drain out. And yes, if it would work you would still need to trap the hose. A much better idea would be to drain the washer into the laundry tray and use its trap and vent. Good luck, Tom

Speedball1, Tom,
Sorry I stated the question incorrectly. I want to tee off the drain for the laundry room tub below the trap for the tub. I realize the drain hose of the washer has to be higher than the washer tub. I want to tee off at a 45 angle and then go verticle to the height I need. I'm just unsure if I still need a trap in the drain line for the washer. Thanks for your help, Tom.

Yes, you will still need to trap the line. To tee off the drain after the trap would open a direct line from the sewer into your home allowing sewer gas to enter. Good luck, tom
