My momma cat had 7 babies 4 weeks ago. Over the last couple days every time she goes to feed them she growls and cries while they try to nurse as if in pain from it. She keeps going back to feed them but can't seem to stay long. What do I do? Her nipple seem soft and moist. I'm not sure what's going on w/her but I'm starting to worry for her and the babies.

At four weeks old, the kittens are getting sharp little teeth, that's why the queen is crying and growling while she is nursing. It is about time for her to wean them off her milk. The queen would normally start to discourage them from nursing about now. So probably you will see a difference soon, and then you will have to introduce them to kitten food and water. You may have to help her with this by getting some kitten food soon and putting it out. They may get hungry enough now to try it as probably her milk will not be enough to fill their bellies.

This was always a fun time for me watching them get used to drinking water. They mostly will get pretty wet falling in it before they get the idea to drink it. As for the food, they will naturally be little suvivors.

Well, u should get a vet to check her. She might have an infection or something worse.

Very unlike an infection. If you have ever watched the process of feline birth, feeding, weaning, you would know that momma kat is in pain from sharp teeth from kittens.

I agree weening will be soon but in the mean time you can clip the kittens little finger and toe nails just by taking baby nail clippers and gently take the sharp tips off all of their nails so that when they knead against mom's belly it isn't so sharp, it may cut down on some of her discomfort, there isn't anything much you can do about that but I know when my kittens where nursing mom's belly was scratched up and this also gets the kittens used to having their nails cut regularly when they are older.
