There are a lot of framing how to books at HD and Lowe's. I use "Creative House Framing, plan, design, build". Cost's about $15 but go to a used book store or Amazon first.

Oh, I have a couple of framing books already. However, neither describe how to fasten the lumber :-( Does the book you mentioned go into that?

Are you talking about nailing patterns, size of nails etc?

Exactly. A nailing schedule, I believe it's called. I have the 2006 IRC and don't see anything in there either.

Was in Lowe's today. Complete book of Framing $18, Scot Simpson. Has 3 pages of IBC 2006 nailing requirements.

I picked up the book on my way home from work. Three pages? It has THIRTEEN pages illustrating the nailing schedule in the IBC. Wow. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks ma0641!

Table R602.3(1) of the 2006 IRC contains that Code's fastener schedule for structural framing members.
