If a furnace is oversized will heat exchanger burnout prematuely?

Not really but it will not be as efficient as a properly sized unit. It may heat the home quicker but cycle less, this can cause the home to be slightly less comfortable. I'd suggest trying to set your stat blower to ON rather than AUTO. This uses only slightly more electricity and keeps the home more evenly temped.
