If I have herpes and never had an outbreak but was taking valtrex but a month later I had unprotected sex what are the chances of giving it to my partner

It's possible but no one can give you a percentage or anything on how likely. Only a doctor will be able to tell your partner for sure whether they have it now or not.
Was your partner aware that you have herpes? You have a responsibility to be honest with any partner you have.

Scoopy, how old are you?
Your question strikes me as hypothetical. Do you have herpes or does the person you had sex with have the disease and now you think you may have it? Transmission rates differ by gender. I would be concerned about pregnancy as well as the STD. Be careful and use a condom.
A friendly piece of advice: to make your post easier to understand, please use punctuation.

Taking Valtrx only reduces the outbreaks... it doesn't render you safe. You can give Herpes to others even without an outbreak.

Also want to add, that even if you DO use condoms, your partner can still get herpes.
That is why, you should disclose the fact that you have it to any person you decide to engage in sexual activities with. ( that is, of course if you haven't).

The chances are small. The fact is that you weren't given the choice to contract herpes, but you can do others the favor of letting them know. At the same time, it's really hard to do that. Look at it this way: don't have sex with an outbreak or when you are healing. A one night stand is really probably not going to result in transmission. But if that one night turns into a relationship, that person is going to be pissed you didn't tell them, and it could be a deal breaker.

A one night stand COULD result in a transmission.
There is NO CURE for herpes.
Do NOT have sex with someone and give them this INCURABLE disease without their knowledge. DO NOT have unprotected sex unless you are actively TRYING for a baby--and even that has its risks!
Even if the odds are low, it's still odds that are too high.

I have an educated opinion about this, but I refuse to give it until the OP'er tells us his/her age, brief sexual history, and whether he/she has herpes. Or why he/she might think so.
Rhetorical questions are a damned waste of time and site resources. So... tick tock. Please give more info soon or this thread will be done.
