My electric garage door goes 3/4 of the way down, makes a noise (like it's hitting something) and then goes back up. I checked the sensors and nothing is blocking them. I also checked for dirt.

Any ideas?

It doesn't take much for this too happen. With mine its usually something in the way that you can see on either side. That's enough to stop it.

Is this an indication that you need a man around the house again !

Oil your rollers one could be getting in a bind , this would make it think its hitting something and open back up.
Might use WD40 this is what I use on mine.

Considering her recent dilemma, this was really a rude remark Tick.

Do you really think, J, that if I KNEW anything untowards had happened I would have said this. You could have enlightened me a little, given me a heads up. I am not privvy to everything that goes on here with our members. I don't make it a point of delving into personal problems, as you indicate, this probably was. I am so sorry. You are so quick to judge.

So, D, I am so sorry that I offended you, I had no idea there had been any delimma.

Hey, I was a little hurt (thanks J) and didn't know how to respond to it, but I thought Tick was just making me 'buck up' or she didn't like me. Then I realized that the man I used to have here, didn't do anything, so I would have to handle it either way.

My garage door has a crack in it. Where the opener is connected has moved away and lost a screw, and must have messed with it for a while, going up and down. I am going to get it welded and things should be OK. My son (who now lives with me, I guess the Man) took care of it before I got home from work. I believe he did this because he is too lazy to manually open the garage door and because he wanted to help. I'm not quite sure which is #1.

Sometimes the least possible exclamation is the one that means more, Dahlia. I don't know why you would ever get the idea that I would post something like that because 'I didn't like you'. Where would you ever get that impression from the laughs we have shared from time to time.

I had no idea that you had any trouble in your married life. I don't pry and took your comment a while back that you 'didnt have a man around any longer' as just a meaningless comment.

So the least possible exclamation is probably just the 'bucking up' one, which is more like me anyway, not me to be nasty or mean or make hurtful comments.

So you thank J, for thinking I am a hurtful person. So, now this is all out of proportion and I am the one who is offended.

I did not take offense. I am just very vulnerable and have always been. I haven't been posting regular in a while and don't remember everything I have posted. I'm getting better and have no ill feelings.:)

On the garage door unit there are 2 knobs. Up force and down force. Try adjusting a half turn at a time. Then run door

Back to the door discussion. If you pull the red handle and disconnect the opener does the door move freely up and down?

Yes, we found that a screw had come loose (connecting the opener to the door) and had been loose for so long that it managed to crack the aluminum door. I had a friend of my sons (who's taking a welding class)weld a support that we could attach to the door in that area and put it all back together. It works great now all for $25.00.
