Does the sugar pill still contain ingredients to stop you from producing an egg ? How does it keep working while you have a period or for the first 7 days after... I ask this question because they say not to have unpretected sex for 14days when you first start using the pill wouldn't it be the same after a period if they are only sugar pills!

Keep in mind even AFTER you have been on them for a while (past 30 days)... the pill still isn't 100% effective. And certain classes of antibiotics can render birth control pills ineffective as long as they are in your system.

You have to consider that actual ovulation periods for women do not occur on the same schedule or even the same day of her cycle. Thus the recommendation to use alternate birth control for the first 30 days.

The sugar pills serve no purpose other then allow you to maintain a routine schedule of a pill a day..

The sugar pills act as a way to remember to take your pills and stay on schedule, but they will not protected you from getting pregnant as they do not have any hormones or medication in them thus "sugar pill" as they are like lollies you could say!

Normally you want to be on them for 30 days before unprotected sex ( but also remember they are not 100 percent effective, so if you don't want to be pregnant use two forms ( and even that is not 100 percent for sure)

There is no medication in the sugar pills
