Last night I had a dream that some man threw a knife at my father and somehow this knife had landed perfectly in his arm. For some reason ever since that happened I wouldn't leave his side, in the dream not in real life. I found this strange because me and my father are not close at all. In fact we pretty much have no relationship whatsoever. For some reason I just feel awkward when I talk to him and it's quite clear he does too. When I was little I used to be a daddy's girl and as I grew up and matured I just couldn't talk to him anymore. In the dream I also got cut by a knife by some girl and then she laughed at me. I did not know either of the people that harmed me or my father. Does anyone know what this dream may mean to me? I'm quite curious just because of how random this dream was, which I guess most are but this one was one of the most random for me.

It doesn't sound random to me, at all. In real life, I don't think that you would respond in this manner at all. I feel that the dream is showing you that you shouldn't wait for some real life tragedy to be close to him again.

I understand that you two are uncomfortable around each other and I see that this is for plenty of reasons.

Do you think that it might be in your best interest to slowly try to get to know him again? If so, just go s-l-o-w. Send emails at first, keep your conversations short.

Choose activities where youall can just BE together without the expectation of talking. Bingo is excellent for this. And then, little things will happen that will give you two the opportunity to get to know one another again.
