My grandfather and I have a joint account and he is deceased now but we are about to get a settlement for a suit we had in against a company. The check will come in estate of my grandfather. Will I need a estate account to deposite it?

Yes, but only if you are the executor of the estate. The estate account should be set up and used by the executor to administer your grandfather's finances - pay bills, receive income, etc. If you are the executor this is one of the first tasks to be done once you have the death certificate in hand and have been confirmed executor by the probate court.
