My hard drive is going out (bad sectors). I would like to simply replace it. In the old IDE days, as well as I can remember, you could install the new drive (slave), then xcopy with DOS C: to D:. Then remove the old drive, set the new drive to master, and reboot. Am I remembering that right, and does it work the same way with SATA?

Your hard drive won't boot if you just copy the info.

You have to use a hard drive cloning tool like Norton Ghost.

Yes it does, as in SATA and IDE work the same?
