He will be with his family at Christmas so I had hoped he would want to spend new years with me. Am I over-reacting?

What plans do the two of you have for Christmas?

I think you are expecting a bit much. If you've been together six years, no, but six months, yes. Let him be with his family and friends.

At 6 months you two are just at the very beginning of your relationship. It can be hard to integrate two people into the family occasions such as Christmas and New years.

No, you shouldn't be upset. You should understand that you two haven't been together long enough to spend these holidays together unless you both agree to. He seems to have set plans, and that's okay.

Thanks, its good to get another perspective on things. For me, Christmas and new years is all about family and loved ones. He will be away with family during Christmas and since I have not factored into his new years plans, I'm just a little :0(. Of course, this does now leave me with more options with my friends but I would have liked to see our first new year "in" together...
