I too have a CrAzY Neighbor on Washburn Island on Lake Scugog, since we moved in 3 years and made some changes to the outside of the home (landscape) he always has his opinions and speaks them quite loudly so to say. Now I'm not the one to not stand up for myself or not say anything back, I do try to refrain myself but this guy, boy Oh boy he just keeps going.

There are days he's very good and I have helped him and his wife in the past, like raking gravel in their driveway all day as they are older folks and I try to be nice hoping he will stop with his ranting.

You must understand this guy isn't ranting only on me, he goes around the neighborhood and starts with everyone, for example he tried to have some neighbors tree's cut down as he couldn't see the lake anymore, and this neighbor is a block over so the trees are not even infringing on his property, he just doesn't think people should have tall tree period.

Well it all started again yesterday, his wife asked if we were gone on holidays or if we have been home this past week, I said we were home, but I've been working late nights and sleep during the day why do you ask. She rudely goes into her home completely ignoring me (I'm thinking okay great what have I done now) Her husband comes out and over onto my driveway and starts reaming oh who was the A-hole who installed your chimney, who was the dumb A$$ who passed it I'm calling the city I'm reporting you blaa blaa blaa… I said wait a sec what is your problem now, He states your smoke from your chimney is coming into my bedroom door all day and all night. (patio door to his bedroom, the nights here are from -5 to -20 and he claims he leaves it wide open) Whatever

Okay, my chimney passed code by 2 inspectors from the city for insurance reasons I needed this done. Second: I haven't had a fire in my stove in 5 days, Third when I do have fires my stove is rated one of the top 3 and very little smoke comes out, forth: My house and chimney sit higher than his and the wind hardly ever blows in his direction in the colder months as it seems, not saying it doesn't but I never have a great deal of smoke coming from my chimney either.

I politely asked for Wyane to leave my property and to go home and think before he speaks, I also informed him if he steps one foot on my land 1 more time I will have him arrested for trespassing, I have also sent a letter of trespass to him and the local police.

As I have been typing this letter, he has been outside ranting and raving to other neighbors about this, I will not move nor will I put up with his childish behavior. I have my web cams recording the front and the side of my home and property I will be calling the local police shortly and having him charged for trespassing and I will also be showing my video proof and placing a restraining order on him.

Buy a web their cheap and they HELP!

You should look into one of those outdoor security cameras and place them in a very conspicous spot very high up and aimed not directly at their yard but into your yard and keep it turned on. They do sell the fake cameras that have little red lights that are on all the time so the other person thinks you have a real camera.

Could make the big difference in having less unwanted "performances" by these idiots.

I have found that getting restraining orders only provokes these types of idiots making them WORSE not better. And when the order runs out guess what. They then will revert to their previous behavior with a vengeance. Been there, done that. Cost me a lot of money and I only got worse behavior from the idiots I got the restraining order on in the first place. They would resort to having their friends intervene and cause havoc to my family or my home.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

You tell hm, that your chimney is up to code and that you haven't even been using it so what he's saying can't be true. Tell him to feel free to report it.
