I am 13 right now and my boyfriend is 16. He will be turning 17 this month and in February I will be 14 so would that be legal since it is 3 years not 4?

This is a frequently asked question. It's a good idea to search for similar questions before posting. Had you done so you would have found that that there no laws governing dating. However, you are probably underage so any sexual activity would be illegal. Also, it could be illegal if your parents do not agree to this relationship and he tries to continue it.

In my opinion at 13 you are too young for one on one dating. Especially with someone so much older. You need to abide by your parents rules on this. At your ages the gap is huge. You are both at very different stages of development. If you were 21 and 18 there would be no issue, but at your ages there is.

It depends on where you live. You are way too young to be dating, but that is your choice, personal recommendation would be to hold off for a while longer or pick someone closer to your age to avoid you being taken advantage of. And dating is not illegal at those ages anywhere I think, unless you are planning on having sex with this guy, which I HIGHLY do NOT recommend. But if you choose to make that mistake, please be responsible and use protection. Wait a while till you are mature enough to make decision of this magnitude, probably around 17-18.

You should give some consideration of why a boy that much older wants to date a girl your age. It doesn't show very good judgement - he should be saying "I'm too old for you, and you're too young for dating". The fact he isn't shows a huge lack of judgement on his part. The moment he learned your age should have been the moment the relationship ended.

The reason is that you are way, way too young for dating at all, and boys his age expect things that are totally inappropriate for him to do with a young barely-teen child. He's not good for you so break up with him whether it's legal or not. Then just get to know boys with your girl friends in groups for now.
