I am trying to find a solution for broadcasting wireless data to a display screen small enough to fit into a wrist watch. The broadcast will only need to cover an area of 200 yards. I need to be able to input information within the control panel/application and then broadcast the data to the watches. I have looked into internet watches (timex, fossil, etc.) yet in third world countries internet connectivity will become an issue. A self contained system would be ideal.

My research has not uncovered a technical starting point.

Thank you for any help in advance.

Wow, where to start. You either have to design the watch yourself or use an existing watch like those you found. If you use the existing internet watch, and coverage is an issue, then you need to set up a local wireless lan. I know of no off-the-self solution for what you are looking for. The closest would be wireless terminals like those used in stores for inventory or car rentals at checkout As part of your problem statement, you need to define what data and data rate you need transferred, and where it needs to operate. Data rates have limits in wireless solutions, and different countries have different wireless standards.
