View Full Version : Why would new Trane inducer fan only work one cycle then not start again?

I installed a new Trane "replacement" gas furnace inducer fan, wiring the temperature sensor, and black, white, and ground wires to the same wires that were used by the old fan. When starting the furnace, it started right up, the furnace worked great. However, it would not come on later in the evening when the furnace tried to start up again.

I "repaired" the original inducer fan by re-wedging the fan on the motor shaft and replaced the new inducer fan. It old one started up. I turned it off and tried it again and it started up again. I tried it four times and it kept working. Does this mean that the new "replacement" fan was defective? I put my ohm meter across the black and white connections and there is very little resistance, which says to me that it didn't burn out. It should not be the thermostat because it is working with the old fan. It can not be something wrong with the board, since the old fan is working.

Why wouldn't the new inducer fan start up a second time? Thanks for your thoughts. -Ed
