I have a 1997 honda civic 5 speed.. it won't crank. I have power checked the battery and its good.. I did locate the reset button.. I turn the key to almost the start position and press the button and it turns on.. but won't turn on if I don't press the button.. I need to find out what is causing the problem?

I'm not sure what reset button you are referring to.

Down under the clutch on the side wall. It's a spring loaded button.. when I press it then turn the key with the clutch pressed the car starts.. if I don't press it it won't start

Turns out I had to bypass the alarm... the red light on the left was the indicator.. had to take it to a shop and they bypassed it with a switch..
