What does 'dating' mean to you?

Most parents I know, myself included, would not allow our children to 'date' at that young of an age. What do your parents and the other person's parents think about you 'dating'?

Why not? Once I wanted to date a girl who was 15, and I'm 12, but as of tonight I have a girlfriend. So I'd say go for it!

Dating at that age, seems more like two people who have a crush. Which there is nothing wrong with that and isn't serious. But there are limits.

I wasn't aloud to DATE till I was 16 years old

Since a 10 year old girl just gave birth in Spain and the father is believed to be about 13 years old, it may not be as innocent a question as it seems.

The first thing is what do your parents say? And Cat has a good question about what dating means.

One of the problems in today's society is a loss of childhood innocence. Children are trying to grow up too fast and as a result lose out on proper development.

Dating is not something one engages in at preteen levels. Generally they just don't have the emotional development to deal with it.

The point here is that we don't know what the OP means by dating. So we have to assume that it means what we would normally take it to mean. That makes your advice to "go for it" irresponsible In my opinion. And, as Cat pointed out, a 10 yr old Spanish girl just gave birth. So children trying to imitate adults can have serious repercussions.

Why not? Because you don't have the emotional maturity to handle it. You are a child, try remaining a child as long as you can. There is plenty of evidence to explain why not if you would pay attention.
