Just had a licensed technician replace the regulator on our old Sears floor furnace. It's working fine now but he says there is no rod with this regulator so in order to light the pilot we have to crawl under the house. Could that be right?

What is the make and model ? Where is the button you push to light the pilot light ?

My central unit is "under the house" you crawl from the 1/2 basement in the space to the heating unit. I made that crawl a nice surface to get though

Do we get to use the old rod on new gas valves. My gas man said just to leave the pilot on the floor furnace all the time. To turn the new gas valve off i have to crawl under the house is this normal?
