I'm renting a home in Michigan,I have been here for 13 months, back in February I got this letter from a bank, called landlords told me not to worry about it,throw it away,so I did.(why not is wasn't for me).Well a few months ago are roof started leaking, mold started growing so I called landlord, they came inspected and started putting on a new roof, but neighbors were asking why"When they don't own the property?".So the next letter I got I opened it found out that the rent was $800 behind, and the name on the paper wasn't even their's,so I called landlords gave me this story don't worry we own the property, son had signed it over to someone who has now filled bankruptsy/forecloser,which of course was never told to me.So I checked into it these so called Landlords don't own the property haven't since 2008?? They signed a lease agreement I've paid them every month up until I spoke with the bank that has this issue. I've paid them(so called landlords) $5000 in rent and a sec.deposit of $300,they are mad,but I have to follow court order,it's the law,BUT can I sue them for renting a home and collecting rent for a home they didn't even own??
