I put a different light switch in the kids bedroom a while back and had a issue with one of the plugs in an outlet that didn't work unless it was turned on by the switch. OK I tried to rewire things and they still didn't work but as of last night the power in both outlets is gone and the lights still work? There are no GFI's in this room. It is just two outlets 4 plugs and a light switch hooked up in there? I need help and would be grateful for your advice.

Under the NEC code, you can have a switch operated receptacle to turn a light on and off.
Is that what you originally had?
How are the lights for this room connected now?
As to the receptacles, most of the ones I have seen are called "Split Receptacles". This means that the lug between the upper and lower screws on the receptacle is broken. Permanent power is supplied to the upper receptacle while the lower outlet is connected to the switch.
Now, what did you do to rewire the switch? Please be as exact as possible.
