Can you have too much drain slope?

Hi SSBYRD57...
Sure can have too much slope. Here, recommended slope is 1/4" pitch per foot of 3" pipe or smaller and can have 1/8" pitch per foot of 4" pipe or larger.
You can certainly exceed the pitch in the pipe by a bit... say 1/2" to the foot or so, but if say you have like 1-2" or more pitch per foot of pipe the water would flow down the pipe so fast it would basically leave the solids (waste) behind leading to a build up in the pipe that could eventually lead to a clogged drain.
That being said, if this excess pitch occurs for a short distance... no worries, but if your entire main is piped extreme you could have issues down the road.
