My husband was convicted of shoplifting in the early 90s and also of fraud (stealing someone's government check ). He received probation and had to pay restitution. No other criminal offenses since. These occurred in PEI Canada.

I was convicted of fraud(writing bad checks) and got probation with lots of programs and counseling required. (Drug, alcohol and mental health issues) I completed all of it and restitution. This occurred in Nova Scotia Canada around 1993. No other criminal offenses since.

My question is to get a passport to travel to the USA do we need to get a pardon? We are looking at wanting to travel and such and are unsure if we need to worry about it or not?

Hi mogrann, yes you do need pardons for old offences otherwise you are not going to be able to travel anywhere. First thing, you need an attorney, and you need to read this website. I hope you can access it properly. If you cant, go to Google and enter 'pardon for old offences'.

Thank you Tickle. Hubby and I watched blizzcon this year on the internet stream and have decided we want to try to attend the next one. I will be looking into getting this started and then passports.
