Can I get fired because I broke up with my managers daughter? We've been dating for a year or so and just got a job with her mom about a month ago. I ended things with the daughter because she wasn't the same like she used to be.. anyway can she tell her mom to fire me and I can get fired just because I broke up with her or do they have to have a reason to fire me. I'm in California by the way

California is an at-will state. You can be let go for any reason other than discrimination, pretty much.

You can pout over the lost job or get to work finding a better one. Any job is better than the one you have now, unemployment.

I couldn't in good conscience recommend you spend any time trying to get back a job from someone related to an ex-girlfriend.

Yep, I was let go because my wife would not belong to the local flower club. I have been warned about what area of town I needed to live in when I was moving to a new location.

I was told to fire someone because of hair color at one place I was a manager ( the owner wanted only a blonde to be at the front desk.)

The way I see it is, whether you're fired or not, why would you want to stay at that job? There will be so much baggage, tension and awkwardness floating around.

Look for a new job ASAP!
