If I signed a lease in July of 2010 and just now realized the lease isn't valid unless signed before oct. of 2008, what should I do?

Hello t:

Could you tell us WHY your lease isn't valid? Specifically, what does the clause you're referring to say??

Did you move in? Have you been living in the property? Why do you think its not valid, what does it specifically say?

Well it says in a blue box at the very top of the page "not valiid unless signed before oct 2008" our signatures are dated July of 2010 almost two years out of date. Is this lease valid? And when you sign the lease isn't everything supposed to be paid up? You wouldn't owe money on the total move-in, right?

Hello again, t:

From a legal perspective, that wasn't very helpful... What would HELP, is if you would explain what is happening here. Who is doing what to who, and what is it that you want to accomplish?

If the form is merely a old form, replaced with a new form there may be phrases in the old form that does not match current or new state laws. But it will not make it void unless one party wishes to challenge it. And all the terms that are still valid may be ruled as valid.

One party will have to try and break the lease and have it ruled on by the courts.

Sounds to me like the landlord used an old outdated form. But that would not make the form invalid as long as the lease states when it takes effect, what the term is and what the rental is and that it is signed by both the tenant and landlord.
