I am relocating a washer and dryer to the basement. I would like to use the same drain. It is a 2" copper pipe that drains directly to the main line. The problem I have is that the line is in the joists. Is it OK to run the hose up to this drain pipe? Is this to high? I am really not sure where I can put it other wise. Please help.

The problem I have is that the line is in the joists. That drain has to drop down to the basement somewhere. Why not remove the old stand pipe and trap and move them to the basemnt?

Is this to high?
The average washer can pump up to a 8 foot head. You will need to install a check valve on the washer hose 8if you pump overhead. Tell me exactly how you're going to drain and vent the washer once it's in the basement. Back to you. Tom

There is no Stand pipe. I would like to drain to the exhisting drainpipe in the rafters above. I figure it is about 6 feet straight up from where I plan to put the washer. I can not put a typical stand pipe do to other objects in the area.
