Hi,

I have a Maytag washer and dryer. They are 14 years old, have been well looked after and function well. The dryer which runs on propane started to present problems several weeks ago. The heat became intermittent. Last week there was no heat at all. On closer inspection, the igniter lights but the flame does not come on. There appears to be no gas flow. The cycle repeats but no flame appears. I tested the continuity (with a volt/ohmmeter) of the high limit switch, radiant sensor, and igniter with the dryer unplugged. All demonstrate continuity. The wires leading to the two coils on the gas valve both show 120V. I disconnected the wires and tested the prongs (two on one coil and three on the other) on the coils. Both showed no continuity. I am not sure if this was the correct part to test?

How does one determine whether the problem is one or both the colis versus the gas valve itself?
