Hey Guys,

I am hoping that someone somewhere mite be able to give me a bit of insight or answers as to what is going on. My partner and I were pregnant in 2008. I was 6wks 6days when I found out that I was pregnant. I felt the need to go to the bathroom around my 13 week mark and noticed that there was slight bleeding. Extremely frantic I went to the doctor the next day and did an ultrasound where I found out that I had miscarried at 9 weeks. Doctor explained to me that it was normal that the symptoms don't show until a little later. Very upset my partner and I stopped having sex as I was too scared too fall pregnant so soon after a miscarriage. Had a curette in about April/May of 2008 as I wasn't passing normally. I got an infection a couple of weeks after being out of hospital and had to return to be put on a drip (antibiotics) to help clear it up. Was in the hospital for about a week... Since about November 2008 we started trying again and aren't having any luck!! It's now been 2 1/2 years since I miscarried and I don't know what's going on. Can anyone relate to this? Please help.

You may want to see a fertility doctor eventually, but a gynecologist should be able to tell if your uterus was affected by the curettage, or if the infection had residual effects on your fallopian tubes - but there are so many reasons you may not be pregnant (YET!), including whatever might be a reason for the original miscarriage. Unless you had multiple miscarriages, one doesn't really count as something wrong with your ability to get pregnant or have a baby. So again, start with a gynecologist.

If my uterus or fallopian tubes were affected is there a possibility that they may tell me I may never fall again? I think that is the reason I haven't been yet. So scared of hearing those words... But I know its for the best

There are a number of tests that can be performed... and this should include both you and your husband. Some potential problems will have relatively simple "fixes", others may require more invasive treatment.

There is also the likelihood that things are fine and it will just take some more time... it happens that way for some couples.

I know it is scary, but you really need to have things checked out. Consider the alternative... you have dealt with enough stress and disappointment thus far, no sense in potentially having that continue if there were indeed something that needed taking care of.

IF, and that is a big IF, it were determined that you could not become pregnant by usual means, there are other options available that could help you to become pregnant.

Again, make the appointment, get the initial testing done for you and your husband, and take it from there.
