Just to give you a little background to our dilemma. We live in an old farm house about 110 years old and the plumbing as far as we know is about 70 years old. We have well water.Last Monday my daughter took one of her long showers before she checked to see if I was doing laundry there for draining the pump out side making all water flow cease. So my husband get the bright idea to take water out of the back of the tolit to start the pump.(not his brightest moment) So since then the tolit water has been coming up in the tub and the tolit has been over flowing. We tried the conventional methods of draino and plunging to no avail we still have a tub full of "lovely brown logs". So we decided to rent a snake to fix it our self's but the entry or trap door whatever you want to call it is in the basement at a slant and does not seem to want to work. My question to you is what can we do our self's to avoid the 2 week waiting list and costs of a plumber?
