Hello. I'm trying to find out if there is anyway I could live with my sister whom is 18.. I live with my dads mom and I have all my life and they are just too strict and were always arguing and I'm very unhappy here. Its getting to the point where I'm never happy.im always down and depressed and I just hate it. . I have 10more months till I'm 18 but I really don't think I can last that long. My dad has custody of me but I don't want to move up there because he doesn't have a lot of room. He just adopted 2 of my cousins and they are very crowded. My sister is 18 and she lives with my moms mother.. my mom passed away 3 years ago tomorrow. My mom and dad got a divorce when I was little and I was never really around my mom. I think that I should be able to choose if I want to live with my other grandparents even if my dad doesn't want me to. Or I think since I'm 17 my sister should be able to get custody of me till I'm 18.. I just feel like I would be a lot happier if I wasn't living where I am now. Oh I live in Lawrence county Ohio. If someone could please get me some info I would greatly appreciate it.. also my friend told me that her sister paid 50 and got custody of her since she was 17.. even without the parents permission. Does anyone know anything about that? I'm not really sure how I get the answer on here so please email me {e-mail removed}if you know anything.. thanks a lot :) have a great day!

Also me and my sister both have a job... we both work at mcdonalds I know it isn't the best but at least its money coming in every 2 weeks... and she has a car... and she graduated... and I'm in my sr year.. and I will graduate before I'm 18.. so that's another problem I have.. she already said I can't go on a sr trip or anything that's why I want to go with my sister till I'm 18.. thanks :)

If your dad has custody how are you leaving with your grandparents? Do they have guardianship?
If your sister want's custody she will have to go to court to fight for it. With 10 months left before you turn 18 it might take that long for a court hearing.
Tough it out for the 10 months.
And no, its not as easy as your friend claims.

Nope.. I just live with them... and seriously I rele don't think I can take 10more months its getting that bad... I think I'm going to look into emancipation.. since I have a job and I have a place to live. I know its going to be hard but its hard now

Emancipation isn't the answer either. You don't have a place to live (alone) and by the time you prove yourself to the courts you will most likely be 18 already. If your grandparents have gairdianship they can allow your sister guardianship. Or your dad if he is the one with custody by court order. Where is your mom?

If your dad has custody, then ask him for permission to move in with your sister. That's probably the only way this will happen unless your grandparents don't fight it.
