About two months ago I noticed that my belt buckle had the coating scraped off and the metal underneath was exposed. A few days later I began getting severely itchy and burning bumps where the metal touched me. Now these itchy bumps are spreading all over my body and the space on my waist where the buckle sits is scabbing over and burns. Can a sudden allergy to the metal really be causing this? I finally stopped wearing the belt and nothing has changed. No better and no worse. Any ideas how to treat it? I'm 17 and a doctor visit isn't really an option at the moment. Thanks so much for any advice you can offer.

Make it an option, go to the doctor

I have a nickel allergy which sounds exactly like that. Are you wearing anything else metal? Jewellery? Bra fasteners? Once sensitised you can start reacting to things that didn't cause a problem before. The allergy started for me on my ears and fingers where I wore jewellery. If I come into any prolonged contact with nickel anywhere on my body those places often react even though the contact may be elsewhere on my body.
If you have made sure to remove all possible culprits and it doesn't settle down it may have become infected and a doctor's visit really would be the best thing.

I have to agree with QLP... sounds like a nickel allergy to me.
I don't really know of a natural cure for your reaction, but you could try some benedryl and corticosteroid cream.
If nothing helps why don't you see the school nurse? She may be able to look at it and determine if you really need to see a doctor.
