I really need help. I'm in 8th grade and by 9th grade I want to weigh only 140 pounds. I think if I weighed around 140-145 I would be fine. I know that I need exercise and eat right but its so hard. My family ALWAYS has junk food in the house and I ant help but grabbimg something. I feel gross after every meal and I hate eating in front of people. I need help, fast.

It is difficult when you are not the one buying the food in the house and others are eating in a way that is not helpful.
Does anyone else in your family want to lose weight? Maybe have a talk with them about taking just small steps to eating better.
When you do eat with them, chose the most healthful items offered and watch how much you eat. Most people eat far more than their bodies really need!
If it wouldn't cause a problem, maybe prepare some meals on your own and eat at a different time once in awhile. Stay out of the kitchen or dining area when they are eating less healthy choices.
Make sure when you snack, that you choose healthy foods or at least don't eat as much of the unhealthy sort. For example... eat just 2 cookies and walk away instead of eating 8. If you go out to a fast food place, order a kids meal.
See if anyone in your family will start walking with you, or maybe a friend will. Try and do some sort of exercise everyday... could be dancing around your room, riding a bike, jumping rope, doing some crunches and squats while you watch TV. Walk up to the store (if it is safe to do so) instead of waiting for a ride.
Talk to your PE teacher, and the school nurse if you have one, about ideas. They would be more than happy to help you get started and help you keep going.
Sometimes you just have to look for ways that you can make those small changes. Once you start to see some results for your efforts, and it will take some time so try not to get discouraged, you will want to keep going.
It really takes a change in how you think and the choices you make. Think through your meals when deciding what you are going to put into your mouth. Play a game if if helps... for every junk food item you have two healthy items. Eat the slice of pizza, but then have some carrots with a little peanut butter and a banana.
Learn how to make fruit smoothies... great snacks, fill you up and good for you!
Ask a parent, or both, to take you to the doctor for a check up. There you can discuss many more ways to help you make good changes... and, your mom or dad will hear the information as well and maybe make changes of their own!

I understand what your going through, I'm a 13 year old girl, and I weighed 150 pounds. I was sick of it. I am now 120 because I consumed no more than 1,000 calories a day, drank 10 glasses of water a day, and I walked/ran a mile everyday. I did this for a year, with success. I feel that if you are dedicated to this plan, you will be very successful. I wish the best of luck to you. :)

A way that you don't consume a lot of fatty calories is by drinking like 2-3 glasses of water before every meal because water has 0 calories and is good for you so it'll take up space in youor belly so you eat less... :) hope I helped.

Im in the same situation. Im 13 and I weigh 200 if not a little more. My mom goes food shopping and she mainly buys a lot of junk and fat foods. I try to exercise but I don't have people to exercise with because I don't really have any friends and my family doesn't like to. I know my weight is way too much for my age so I want to lose as much weight as I can. Any suggestions?

Talk to your mom about what you would like to do and ask if she could help you with it. She could buy less junk and more healthy choices, and you could try your best to stay away from what junk she does buy.
It is hard when the food is right there, but you'll need to make a real effort to make changes. When you do have some of the junk food, just have a little of it. Try to have most of the food you eat healthier choices, and smaller amounts. How much someone eats is often the biggest factor. Be careful not to be in the habit of eating mindlessly in front of the TV or computer for example. Don't go back for seconds.
Start walking for now... do some stretching exercises... use a couple of cans of food for weights if you don't have weights and do exercises with them... exercise during commercials when you watch TV, or when you first get home from school. See if there is any sort of sport you could join at school, ask your PE teacher for help.
Getting started and keeping going can be hard at first, but it gets easier as you keep going. You won't always like it, it will be a pain to do sometimes, but you just keep doing small changes at a time and increase those changes as you go along. If you find you stop after a bit, don't give up, just start back up again.

I'm in the same situation also. I'm unhappy, and I'm on my way to fixing it. Everyone around me, that I'm close to says that I don't look as if I weigh 200 pounds, except my mother. So they could all be trying to protect my feelings. You know? I've always been a big girl, so I'm sort of used to it, but I'm tired of it! Over summer I want to lose 50-60 pounds, if possible. Its going to be so hard. I want to make a rate of losing 7-10 pounds a week, starting now. Over summer, its going to be even harder because your w/ your friends a lot more & it will take a toll on you. I play volleyball, and basketball, so its not like I'm unactive, but its still hard, because you know your bigger than anyone else. I'm in 8th grade, and I'm about to be a freshman next year. One thing I'm worried about is- we have to take a swimming class in gym next year, I don't want to be fat then! I want to be skinny. Even though we have to wear 1-pieces. Oh well. I'm working on it! I've already started though. One piece of advice though IS, special k foods are the best! The cereals are great, and so are the small portioned snacks. The sour cream and onion chip crackers, are really delicious. So are the sorts of granola bars. The drinks, and meal replacements are tasty too! Try those, your still getting the taste factor from something that's healthy for you, and if not exactly healthy for you, better than any other junkfood. Hope I helped a bit! I would like some advice too, because I'm in the same boat!

I'm the same... 13 years old and 200 pounds. It gets really depressing watching weight loss shows and stuff like that.. I usually start crying after I watch them.. I really want to loose weight... I went on a diet and kept to my diet for about two weeks, then epically failed the next week. I'm tired of feeling like this! I've told my family about it and asked my mom if I could go to weight watchers with her.. she said that we'll talk about it. Though there's another problem... I'm still really picky about food and I don't like vegtabals or barely any fruit! I don't know how I'm going to participate in the program if I don't even eat any of those! I know that I'll probably just be told to go and try them.. But, like I don't know if I'm going to be able to because.. I don't know I can't explain. I'm just stubborn. Does anyone have any suggestions? :(

Well I am too. I'm 13 and my weight is over 200 lbs. I really want to lose weight and be healthy and fit but it seems so hard and frustrating, y'know? But anyway, I really want to try to lose 100 pounds in a year and I can tell its going to be tough but I want to change! Even though it doesn't show much on me because I'm really tall (I'm 6'1") I still just want to feel confident in what I do and be proud with who I am. (: so I hope we all get through our obstacles! Good luck to you all and myself! :D
