Driving a few days ago, my car died after accelerating from a stop sign not 1/2 mile from home. 1st time that's ever happened. I was low on fuel but not empty. No restart (cranks, fuel pump kicks on). Added more fuel to the tank and tried a few more times. I can smell fuel at the engine(near the rail) after I've tried starting. My automotive experience is limited. I've been reading this site for a couple of days and I recently was able to do some troubleshooting myself based on info I found here:
- getting clicks from Main Relay
- fuel pump audible during "ON" set/ignition
- K-Test performed and received 5V/5V from MAP/ground
- no spark when screwdriver inserted into pulled plug wire/cranking (near frame of car)
Could it be something as simple as replacing my fuel filter before I disassemble the dizzy cap/rotor and wires (and coil)?

Replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil:

If the distributor cap and rotor have not been replaced in 60,000 miles, this is the perfect time to do it.

Replaced Coil + 4 new spark plugs (for good measure) = 10-15 secs of cranking it started, ran for 15 minutes, I shut it off. Started strong after another 15 minute wait. Anything else to watch for now in the next few miles I drive it?

On such an old Honda, I would have replaced the ICM--then, I'd have greater confidence in its reliability and safety. ICMs can let you down at the worst of times (e.g. going 70 mph in the left lane on the freeway). Your call.

Very good point. I should really just re-do the whole assembly (cap/rotor+wires+ICM) now that its fresh in my head.
Trying to find a fairly priced yet reliable OEM-style ICM here where I live is proving difficult = not sure if I can order from US?
